Here we are at the eighth stage of #LiguriaTrekkingeXperience, the penultimate walk of our travel across the Ligurian hiking tours.
For this new adventure we go to the Eastern Riviera, more precisely to Deiva Marina.
A crystal sea water and a lush hinterland full of stunning walks welcome us.
We choose to follow a part of the green blue trail leading from Deiva Marina to Framura.
Through some detours we can enjoy all the beauty of this land.

Deiva Marina is located halfway between Sestri Levante and the Cinque Terre, nested in the hearth of the Eastern part of Liguria, overlooking the sea.
It’s just for its “strategic” position the hinterland of Deiva Marina offers a great choice of trails to the trekking lovers wishing to walk up to some of the most scenic and charming destinations in the whole country. And yet keeping on enjoying the unforgettable views over Deiva Marina, its coast and its clear blue sea.
To be more precise we choose the trail leading from Deiva Marina to the near village of Framura for this eighth stage of LiguriaTrekkingeXperience.
Framura is a large municipality, made up by five little villages, stretching from the hills towards the seaside, where a magnificent little harbour, here located, seems to stand still while showing the soul and the beauty of the old sea hamlets of Liguria with an incredible naturalness.
This tiny harbour is the destination of our hiking-day.
To get there we leave Deiva Marina and crossing the hinterland rich in pine-trees, oaks and strawberry trees we arrive at Colle Sarro, and then at Setta, a village belonging to the municipality.
A tall and old aged Saracen Tower rising from the houses watches towards to the sea below.
Heading down to the train station of Framura we walk across the little village of Anzo, where art-enthusiasts can enjoy a pretty little church, the neo-Ghotic Chapel of Nostra Signora della Neve, decorated with a typical striped white and grey Ligurian motif, imitating the tones of marbles and slates.
When reaching the sea level we can’t leave Framura without falling in love with its tiny harbour and walking along its wonderful walkway over the sea and, why not, plunging in its crystal sea waters!
We leave the sea or the center of the village towards the bridge crossing the river Deiva. Past the bridge we follow the signposts showing the way to the trail near the former train tunnel.
From here onwards we start going up.
In fact the path is very steep, climbing up in a superb wood of pine-trees, oaks and strawberry trees.
We reach Colle Serro with some effort and then we can walk an unpaved and stunning little road, along the hill across the colors and the perfumes of the several typical sea pines growing there.
The dirt route reaches a crossroad. Here we take the paved road leading to the village of Setta.
Just there we find the Saracen tower, above mentioned, and a fountain where we take refreshment and refill our water bottles. Alternatively we can rest and have a snack in the shadow of the square.
A little above we can see the hamlet of Costa and its Genoese tower.
Keeping on hiking along the lower part of Framura we arrive at the village of Anzo with its neo-Ghotic Chapel of Nostra Signora della Neve.
The large easy staircase covers all the way from Serra to the sea. Along this last section of our pathway we are constantly attracted by an incredible breathtaking view, overlooking the sea as far as the eye can see. Deiva and its landscape are really charming.
The stairs end at the train station of Framura directly. Before boarding the train to come back to Deiva Marina, we suggest to stroll up to the rocks and the beaches and visit the tiny harbour in the village.
Despite the drinking fountain in Setta we recommend to carry a good supply of water with us. Here and there the pathway is exposed to the sun all day long and so we need to drink a lot to keep our body hydrated!
As usual, we suggest to wear trekking clothing and suitable shoes.
